Did you know that if you consumed an average apple you would be eating over 30 pesticides, even after you have washed it?
The quality of food has definitely gone down since the second world war. For instance, the levels of vitamin C in today’s fruit bear no resemblance to the levels found in wartime fruit.
Organic food is known to contain 50% more nutrients, minerals and vitamins than produce that has been intensively farmed. Read more about this here.
You will have to eat more fruit nowadays to make up the deficiency, but unfortunately that means eating more chemicals, more detrimental affects on your health eating something that should be good for you!
What organic means:
- Animals have not been treated with: antibiotics, growth hormones, or feed made from animal byproducts.
- Animals must have been fed organic feed for at least a year.
- Animals must have access to the outdoors.
- Food hasn’t been genetically modified or irradiated.
- Fertilizer does not contain sewage sludge or synthetic ingredients.
- Produce hasn’t been contaminated with synthetic chemicals used as pesticides.
What the labels mean:
- “100% Organic”: Product must contain 100 percent organic ingredients.
- “Organic”: At least 95 percent of ingredients are organically produced.
- “Made with Organic Ingredients”: At least 70 percent of ingredients are organic. The remaining 30 percent must come from the USDA’s approved list.
- “Free-range” or “Free-roaming”: Misleading term applied to chicken, eggs and other meat. The animal did not necessarily spend a good portion of its life outdoors. The rule states only that outdoor access be made available for “an undetermined period each day.” U.S. government standards are weak in this area.
- “Natural” or “All Natural”: Does not mean organic. There is no standard definition for this term except with meat and poultry products. (USDA defines “natural” as not containing any artificial flavoring, colors, chemical preservatives, or synthetic ingredients). The claim is not verified. The producer or manufacturer alone decides whether to use it
The “Dirty Dozen”: Must-buy organic foods
Fruit
- Apples
- Cherries
- Grapes, imported (Chili)
- Nectarines
- Peaches
- Pears
- Raspberries
- Strawberries
Vegetables
- Bell peppers

Other organic foods worth considering:
No need to go organic with these foods:
Fruit
- Bananas
- Kiwi
- Mangos
- Papaya
- Pineapples
Vegetables
- Asparagus
- Avocado
- Broccoli
- Cauliflower
- Corn
- Onions
- Peas

Seafood
Wild or farmed fish can be labeled organic, despite the presence of contaminants such as mercury and PCBs. No USDA organic certification standards for seafood — producers are allowed to make their own organic claims.
Cosmetics
Having “organic” or “natural” in its name doesn’t necessarily mean it’s safer. Only 11 percent of ingredients found in personal-care products, organic or not, have ever been screened for safety.

Most people think that the Kama Sutra’s just about sex, but that’s not strictly true. The Kama Sutra is made up of seven sections but only the second, called ‘On Sexual Union’, details different sexual positions.
This part of the Kama Sutra is illustrated with drawings to show couples different ways of having sex, oral techniques and also less popular advice on biting and scratching your partner!
Despite it being centuries old, the Kama Sutra can still play a part in modern day relationships. The original Kama Sutra sees women as objects rather than equals but all the positions are still designed to give both parties pleasure.

- Yantra Yoga
Yantra yoga is a complex system of mathematics and geometry which assigns values to the forces which make up the universe. These forces can then be mapped out as mathematical formulas and geometric patterns: the type of patterns we see in crystals, snowflakes and flowers. The entire cosmos is unfolding as a growing mandala - a concentric geometric pattern, flowing outward to the extremities of the universe. As the electromagnetic energies of the stars come back in and converge at various angles they condense and create the manifest world we perceive with our senses. Generally we cannot directly perceive this energy, but with modern scientific technology it can now be observed and measured. Through the practices of concentration techniques known as Dharana in Yoga, the inner vision can be carefully developed so that we may indeed see these vibrant energies as they enter the mind in their geometric patterns.
- Tantra Yoga
Tantra yoga is a bit different from other yoga. Some say Tantra yoga look like magic, mantra or something mysterious which is not true. Tantra means knowledge which consists of Tattva (truth) and Mantra (mystic). Tantra yoga’s intention is so we can appreciate whatever we have. More than that, Tantra broaden our sensitivity in all fields when awake or sleep.
- Mantra Yoga
Mantra Yoga repeats the holy words (chanting) or worship words and central concentration. This system involves knowledge of sounds power. The purpose of Mantra Yoga is to co-ordinate self characteristic with much higher and softer awareness wave tones compare to everyday’s awareness (when we awake). The main purpose of this so that an individual can “hear” God’s voice inside ourselves, not through ears or physic mechanism but through our super sense.
- Kundalini Yoga
Kundalini yoga is a physical and meditative discipline, comprising a set of techniques that use the mind, senses and body to create a communication between “mind” and “body”. Kundalini yoga focuses on psycho-spiritual growth and the body’s potential for maturation, giving special consideration to the role of the spine and the endocrine system in the understanding of yogic awakening.
